Do contacts get automatically opted out on a soft bounce?
What is a soft bounce? A soft bounce is an email message that gets as far as the recipient's mail server but is ' bounced back' undelivered before it gets to the intended recipient. There can be a number of reasons for an email soft bouncing including:
1. Mailbox of recipient is full.
2. Your message was too large.
3. Contact's email server is down or offline.
Soft bounces do affect reputation so we keep track of how many times an email address soft bounced. To protect you and help you to with the 'housekeeping' of your contact email lists, if we receive 5 soft bounces for an email address then the contact will automatically opt out and will not be sent any further emails.
