Why are so many of my emails opened in Mountain View, California?
Gmail recently changed the way they process images when an email is opened in their web-based email client. We register an open by including a transparent image in the email, which when shown to the customer it registers with us. Gmail now pre-process these images and thus it now appears as all such emails are opened in Mountain View, California where Google is based. We are looking at ways we can attain the geographical data in other ways and will make any updates that will help. This does not affect the open count but only the geographical information related to these emails.
